Man Creates Website To Track And Rank Airlines After Girlfriend Loses Luggage
A tech entrepreneur launched Luggage Losers, a website that evaluates airlines by their reported number of lost items.

Losing luggage during vacation can be incredibly frustrating. And it has become a common issue faced by travellers worldwide. Rather than simply lamenting, one individual took proactive steps after his partner’s bags went missing despite repeated airline follow-ups. Pieter Levels, a tech entrepreneur, launched Luggage Losers, a website that ranks airlines based on reported lost items. The site is now live and features Indian airlines like Air India and SpiceJet among those with the highest complaints. The idea for the website came after Pieter Levels’ girlfriend’s suitcase went missing due to mismanagement by Spain’s Vueling Airlines.

Explaining the issue, the millionaire wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “So Vueling lost gf’s suitcase from Lisbon to Barcelona like 7 days ago, then we flew on to Austin so they sent the suitcase to Austin already 4 days ago. It’s at Austin airport, Airtag sees it, we also in Austin, they say they will send it to the hotel already for 4 days, but they never do, kinda frustrating. Same thing as Barcelona, it was at the airport, we see it there, we were in Barcelona, they say they’ll contact us to send it to hotel but they never did. I don’t know the lesson here, I guess f**k flying with Vueling.”

In the following tweet, Pieter Levels shared, “I made a new site called, LuggageLosers.com. It’s a live ranking of airlines by how much luggage they are losing right now. So you can avoid flying with them (and hopefully they can improve).”

Reacting to the post, a user wrote, “This kind love language should deserve a name of its own.”

Another shared, “Air France lost my bags twice per one trip.”

“Losing luggage is such a fear of mine,” a comment read.

However, a user said, “This is nothing but an anti-India foreign conspiracy to tarnish India’s growing reputation.”

One more added, “Never knew the problem was bigger in Europe than USA.”

According to his website, Air India tops the list for the highest number of lost luggage cases, followed by Canada’s WestJet Airlines, Ireland’s Aer Lingus, UK’s British Airways and Spain’s Iberia.

Pieter Levels explained on his website that the site gathers information by using automated tools that search the internet regularly. These tools look for posts about lost luggage and the airlines involved, covering over 100 languages. The website then compares this information with actual data on lost luggage to estimate how much luggage is lost regularly.
