Passengers Stage Protest At Delhi Airport After Indigo Cancels Delhi-Deoghar Flight
Indigo’s Delhi-Deogarh flights on January 30 and 31 were cancelled due to the poor weather conditions in Jharkhand.

Several furious passengers raised slogans and staged a protest against Indigo Airline inside the Delhi airport after it cancelled a Delhi-Deoghar flight due to poor weather conditions. The incident occurred on January 30. According to a Moneycontrol report, travellers gathered in front of the boarding gates in the presence of security officials while protesting the airline’s flight cancellation decision. The airline later stated that the Delhi-Deogarh flights on January 30 and 31 were cancelled due to the poor weather conditions in the Jharkhand city. A video of the incident has since been doing rounds on social networking sites.

“Indigo flight 6E 2198 from Delhi to Deogarh was cancelled on Jan 30 and Jan 31, 2024 due to sudden drop in weather conditions around the airport in Deogarh. Passengers were served with refreshments and options to avail a full refund, alternate sectors or rescheduling,” the Indigo Airline stated. “We regret the inconvenience caused due to factors beyond the airline’s control,” the statement further mentioned.

This is not the only incident; the airline has recently received a lot of criticism for its service. On January 28, its Delhi-Baku flight pilots took off aircraft without the necessary clearance from the air traffic controller (ATC).The airline grounded the pilots after the matter was highlighted. The aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has also started an investigation into the matter, report suggests.

This comes at a time when the Ministry of Civil Aviation and DGCA are showing zero tolerance towards any incident that may breach the safety of the passengers and the staff. Earlier this month, the aviation regulator fined Mumbai Airport Rs 90 lakh and IndiGo Airline Rs 1.2 crore after a video of stranded passengers nonchalantly eating on the tarmac went viral. The Delhi-bound flight was delayed by 12 hours as a result of severe flight disruptions at Delhi airport caused by dense fog.

Meanwhile, Indigo airline on January 30 cancelled and delayed several flights owing to the poor visibility at the Delhi airport due to dense fog. Issuing an advisory for the passengers, IndiGo on X (formerly Twitter) wrote, “Due to forecasted bad weather, flight operations in Delhi, Srinagar and Chandigarh are likely to be impacted. Please keep a check on your flight status before leaving for the airport.”
