India’s startup capital, Bengaluru, has once again become the focal point of attention following another unique entrepreneurial endeavour, this time by an Uber driver. In a true ‘Peak Bengaluru moment’, Lokesh ventured into entrepreneurship, launching his ride-sharing app named Nano Travels.
What makes Lokesh’s story even more intriguing is his unconventional marketing strategy. Instead of targeting a completely new audience, Lokesh decided to tap into his existing network of Uber passengers to promote Nano Travels.
The unusual marketing strategy has caught the attention of social media users, with one individual going by the moniker The Bengaluru Man sharing the news online. According to the post, Lokesh has managed to attract over 600 drivers to join Nano Travels, a remarkable achievement in a city renowned for its fiercely competitive transportation sector.
The news further piqued interest as Nano Travels expanded its footprint by launching the iOS version of its app, extending its services to Apple users.
The announcement was accompanied by a photo of Nano Travels’ pamphlet, featuring contact details for customer service, emphasising Lokesh’s hands-on approach to marketing his venture directly to his Uber passengers.

One user shared a personal experience, recalling, “There was this taxi driver Lokesh who once gave me a ride from the airport. He was very enterprising and asked me to call him in case I needed a ride to the airport and said he has a group of taxi drivers that work together. Wonder if it’s the same guy.”

In another peak Bengaluru moment, a passenger in an auto showcased a distinct payment method by scanning a QR code on the driver’s smartwatch. The unexpected incident occurred during a routine ride with the Namma Yatri service.
Today I met namma Tony Stark in @nammayatri Asked my auto driver for the QR code.
Man flipped his hand and showed me his smartwatch.
Turns out he’s saved the QR code as his smartwatch screensaver.

What started as a typical commute took an unexpected turn when the passenger requested the QR code for payment. Surprisingly, the auto driver effortlessly presented his smartwatch instead of the conventional laminated paper containing the QR code.
