Snake infestation is a huge problem in our country, as the reptiles could be found in some of the most unexpected of places. A village in the state of Uttar Pradesh is experiencing the problem of snake infestation, that too in a water tank. Here are all the details of the report.
According to reports from Local18, the tank was home to what is believed to be the largest snake nest in the country. K.K. Tyagi, a Chambal Sanctuary Forest Range Officer, stated that after being alerted by the villagers, a team of wildlife sanctuary representatives was dispatched to conduct a rescue operation.
Upon arrival, the team found 24 pythons and a krait snake inside the water tank. All the snakes, each measuring about 4 feet in length, were safely removed and subsequently released back into their natural habitat. The presence of the snakes had caused widespread fear, leading the villagers to halt farming activities temporarily.
The successful rescue brought much-needed relief to the villagers. Dr Ashish Tripathi, a representative from Ocean Sanstha and a member of the rescue team, mentioned that although they have been involved in snake rescues for the past decade, this was the first time they encountered such a large number of reptiles in a single location.
As per the reports, for the past two decades, the instances of pythons coming out of the ground have continued in the Etawah district. The forest department has informed the residents that if a python is seen or spotted, it should not be harmed. The discovery should immediately be reported to the department. More information states that Etawah could be home to the largest python nest in the country. Since the forests are being cut, they are forced to move towards human settlements.
