Social media deserves credit for introducing the world to the most bizarre recipes possible. In another fresh addition to the trend of unusual food recipes, a baker from Tamil Nadu’s Madurai has created a fusion of cake and mutton keema.
Vidhu Singh, who describes herself as a “cake artist” and a “passionate baker” in her Instagram bio, showcased her baking skills in a video that has caused quite an uproar online. The clip shows her preparing a spicy keema gravy to spread between layers of sponge cake. In the end, she decorates the cream with chillies and coriander leaves, ditching the usual icing on the cake
“I had made mutton kothu kari (keema gravy). Then, I made four layers of sponge and used only two since this was just a trial. I used the kothu kari as the icing between the layers as its juice, instead of sugar syrup, will get absorbed by the sponge,” she says in the video.
She added, “I infused the flavour of mutton in the icing and sponge, and made this cake. For the topping, I used the kothu kari and garnished it with chilli, and coriander leaves. My family also suggested that I keep the bone as a garnish. Let us know your comments and if you like it, place an order. Next dish, shall we try with chicken.”
The video has prompted a flurry of reactions from viewers online. Instagram users schooled her for the weird food combination she was trying to create, “This is the worst combination. Do not reduce your value with this type of video,” a user wrote, while another added, “Rest in peace baking industry.”
“This is unhealthy and will cause stomach upset,” read a comment.
One of the individuals sarcastically remarked, “Justice for cake.” “People are taking freedom a bit too seriously,” added a netizen.
