People are used to experiencing bends or breakers while travelling on roads, keeping the driver alert and awake. Did you know there’s a road which does not have any turns or bends and just stretches straight ahead? It is often called the most boring road in the world. As per the reports by the Oddity Central website, the world’s longest straight highway is located in the country of Saudi Arabia. Known as Highway 10, the road stretches up to 149 miles or 240 kilometres, connecting two towns. It connects the town of Al Darb, situated in the Southwest, to the East’s Al Batha. According to more information, it is a very busy road, used by trucks that are shipping goods across the country. The most popular feature of the road is its stretch, which goes through the Rub-al-Khali desert.
The infrastructure was initially built as a private road for King Fahd bin Abdulaziz; however, as it became a part of the public road system, it earned the Guinness World Record for the world’s longest straight road. It is also known as the most boring road in the world, thanks to its lack of bends, flat terrain and almost no structures in its surroundings. The Guinness World Records state that it takes around 2 hours to cross the whole road with a truck or car.
Before Saudi Arabia’s Highway 10, the title of longest straight road was held by Eyre Highway, in Australia. Still considered the country’s longest straight road, it covers a distance of 91.1 miles or approximately 146 kilometres.
