The flight of the plane depends on its route. Short-haul flights fly up to a height of 25-35,000 feet, while long-haul flights fly up to 35-40,000 feet. The higher a plane flies, the more air gets thinner. It leads to light travelling and less consumption of fuel. Aviation authorities give every plane a certificate for a specific altitude range. The military aircraft can fly as high as 50,000 to 70,000 feet, depending on their mission.

The planes usually fly at high altitudes due to weather and less obstruction of birds and trees. The clouds form at low altitudes and the water present in them causes turbulence in the plane. It leads to a decrease in the flight speed which leads to turbulence. The aircraft can also be damaged due to turbulence. It can cause panic among the passengers. If the plane flies at an altitude of 40,000 feet, then the clouds remain below it. Due to being below the clouds, the pilot does not have to face any such problem.
