Clips showcasing everyday activities or hilarious videos depicting the life of a common man are the daily dose of laughter for many. People are making vlogs, and sharing funny, little-to-big anecdotes from their lives on social media. These simple yet relatable clips bring smiles to our faces. Digital creators often post videos covering simple facets of everyday life. Recently, a reel about the ‘mannerisms’ of Indians while serving food to guests is raking in likes. In the viral video, content creator Ankur Agarwal mimicked a range of behaviours and gestures that are typically associated with serving food to guests.
In the video, the man is seen encouraging the guests to not feel shy and enjoy the food. He forces the guest to eat additional chapati. He even offers the guests to try famous sweets. He also asks the domestic helper to prepare tea and guides the guest to where he can wash his hands. As practised in almost every Indian household, he insists that the guest leave his plate at the table and not take it to the kitchen himself. In the end, he tells the guest that he didn’t actually eat much.
The concept and words resonated with many users and won their hearts. The reel shared on Instagram has received over 18 million views so far.
As soon as the clip was dropped, people flocked to the comments section to express their views and dropped their opinions. Several users applauded Ankur Agarwal for his creativity. “How did you copy the same stuff that happens in my family?” a user commented. Expressing a similar sentiment, a user mentioned, “Last line was prime line.” Another wrote, “This is how I serve the guests at my house and I feel so content and so good about it. This, my friend, is the culture of India. When we say ‘Atithi devo bhava’ we mean it and we show it.”
However, this is not the only content depicting day to day activity of a common man. A while ago, comedian Gaurav Kapoor shared a video in which he predicted how avocados will lose their striking appeal in coming years. Kapoor said that just two years ago, one had to go to high-end grocery stores to buy avocados but now, one can purchase the fruits from local fruit vendors.
In his hilarious video, Kapoor says that the final assimilation of avocados in the Indian kitchen will come when his mother starts using them to make paratha.
