When individuals plan marriage proposals, they frequently strive for creativity and uniqueness. The internet is filled with diverse proposals that evoke collective admiration. Whether grand or intimate, people showcase their ability to capture their partner’s heart. In Colombia, a man opted for an unconventional approach in proposing to his girlfriend, and a video of the incident has garnered attention online. Rather than resorting to typical methods, he orchestrated an “armed robbery prank” as a unique way to seek his lover’s approval for marriage.
The video shared on Instagram, begins with a red car stopping at an intersection when suddenly, a pedestrian and a motorcycle block its path. Two individuals, appearing to be assailants, approach the vehicle, commanding the occupants – a man and a woman – to “get out.” The situation intensifies as two more men on another motorcycle join, creating an atmosphere of carjacking.
The terrified couple is forcibly removed from the car, with one of the men brandishing what appears to be a small concealed handgun at the woman. The tension reaches its peak as two of the apparent assailants force the male motorist to his knees in the middle of the street.
In an unexpected twist, the robbery takes a bizarre turn as the kneeling man reveals a wedding ring, exposing that the entire scenario was an elaborate setup for a marriage proposal. The accomplices burst into applause and cheers, celebrating the success of their audacious deception.
Initially outraged, the woman playfully smacks her soon-to-be husband before breaking down into tears of joy. The video concludes with the couple embracing in front of onlookers who cheered at the unexpected turn of events.

The video quickly gained attention on social media, amassing 187,000 views on Instagram. However, the proposal received mixed reviews in the comments section. Some users expressed disapproval, calling it “stupidity at its best” and questioning the decision to use violence and insecurity as part of a proposal.
One user commented, “That would show me why I shouldn’t marry this guy.”
Another user highlighted the normalization of violence, stating, “How sad it is to have violence and insecurity so normalized.”
