When Elon Musk Slept On Factory’s Floor To Set Example For Employees

An old clip of Elon Musk from the 29th Annual Baron Investment Conference in New York has resurfaced on a micro-blogging site X (Formerly Twitter). The Tesla CEO is an exemplary leader who always puts his company and his employees ahead of himself. The same could be seen in this video, where he talked about the time he used to sleep on the floor. In the viral clip, Musk can be heard saying, “I was living in the factory in Fremont. And the one in Nevada for three years straight. It was my primary residence. I’m not kidding, literally. I actually slept, I slept on a couch at one point on a, in a tent on the roof. And then but then for a while there I was just sleeping under my desk which is out in the open in the factory. And for an important reason. And it was damn uncomfortable sleeping on that floor.”

There’s a good reason why Elon Musk chose the floor over a comfortable bed. The billionaire wanted his team to see him sleep with absolutely nothing to motivate his employees to give their all. Speaking further in the video, Musk could be heard saying, “Since the team could see me sleeping on the floor during the shift change…with nothing, they knew I was there. And that made a huge difference. And then they gave it their all.” This clip of Musk has received more than five lakh views on X while attracting the attention of several netizens on the platform.

One of the users said, “Isn’t that a sign of true leadership? Unlike Elon Musk, on the other hand, most bosses are harsh on others while lenient on themselves.” Another highlighted how he felt that the billionaire was a little strange but it is the reason why he attained success of this magnitude. “Elon is a bit bizarre, but that’s exactly why he’s so successful, Boring people prefer to seek security and comfort”, she said. One more user could be seen mentioning that bosses shouldn’t stay far from work. “Leaders should stay close to the work”, he said. A user compared the billionaire with a Marvel Cinematic Universe character as he said, “Elon is awesome! great inspiration! real life Tony Stark!”

This isn’t the first time that we’ve seen Elon Musk’s leadership on display. Just recently the Tesla CEO stepped in to pay a bill for an order of mini pies from Tesla. The incident occurred last week when Tesla cancelled an order for 4,000 mini pies leaving a bakery owner frustrated. Musk responded to the situation on X saying, “Just hearing about this. Will make things good with the bakery. People should always be able to count on Tesla trying its best.”

It was later reported to the Guardian via an email from the restaurant owner Voahangy Rasetarinera that Tesla had paid the $2000 (Rs.1.65 lakhs) for the supplies and the orders she had to decline to prepare for the 4,000 mini pies. This happened only after an intervention from Elon Musk.
