Woolly Mammoths May Walk The Earth Again By 2028: CEO Of Colossal Biosciences
Besides the mammoth, the company is also attempting to revive the dodo and the Tasmanian tiger.

The famous Jurassic Park films saw a group of scientists collaborating with a millionaire to revive the long-extinct dinosaurs through fossilised remains. If you think bringing back an extinct animal was part of fiction, the following piece of news will baffle you. Scientists are trying to bring back the woolly mammoth, which went extinct thousands of years ago. Now, the company working on this project has stated that it could happen in less than four years. Apart from the mammoth, the company is also attempting to revive the dodo and the Tasmanian tiger. This project is being funded by the American intelligence agency, the CIA.

A company backed by Paris Hilton and Chris Hemsworth has announced that the extinct Ice Age animal could soon walk the Earth again. Colossal Biosciences calls itself the “world’s first extinction prevention company” and is developing a method to revive the “core” genes of animals that have been extinct for thousands of years.

According to a report by The Independent, this includes not only the woolly mammoth but also the dodo and the Tasmanian tiger. The company’s CEO, Ben Lamm, told The Independent, “We have set the end of 2028 as the target date for our first mammoth, and we are currently making great progress toward that, which is exciting.”

Lamm told Daily Mail that the process is like a “reverse Jurassic Park.” According to The Intercept, the company has raised more than Rs 2590 crore, thanks to its celebrity backers. Apart from the CIA, the report also mentions that PayPal co-founder and venture capitalist Peter Thiel and motivational speaker Tony Robbins are investing in the company. The Tasmanian tiger became extinct in the early 1980s, while the dodo bird was last seen in the 1600s.

Lamm said, “It is very likely that we will have one species before 2028, and it will be one of three”. Woolly mammoths have been extinct for over 4,000 years. The company claims that the return of mammoths could benefit the environment by helping to reverse global warming.
