'Not A Young Man, But I Know How To Do This Job': Biden Reassure Voters In New Ad After Debate Misstep
Biden's recent debate with Republican opponent Donald Trump has led to criticism from Democratic allies, donors, and aides, who highlight poor decisions by his senior advisers

US President Joe Biden has released a new 60-second advertisement as part of his re-election campaign, aiming to address concerns following his recent underwhelming debate performance.

The ad, titled “I Know,” will be broadcast in key battleground states, focusing on reaching younger voters.

“Folks, I know I’m not a young man. But I know how to do this job. I know right from wrong. I know how to tell the truth. And I know, like millions of Americans know, when you get knocked down, you get back up,” says the 81-year-old Biden in the ad.

Biden’s recent debate with Republican opponent Donald Trump has led to criticism from Democratic allies, donors, and aides, who highlight poor decisions by his senior advisers.

The US President’s remarks in the new ad are drawn from his post-debate rally in Raleigh, North Carolina, where he appeared much more energetic than he did during the debate with Trump, as per Hindustan Times report.

While the ad omits footage from the debate, it includes clips of Trump on stage and references his actions related to the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot.

“Did you see Trump last night? I mean this sincerely – the most lies told in a single debate,” Biden states.

“He lied about the great economy he created. He lied about the pandemic he botched. And then his biggest lie: He lied about how he had nothing to do with the insurrection on January 6,” he adds.

Shaky debate performance

Despite his shaky debate performance, Biden shows no sign of withdrawing from the race. During the debate, Trump, 78, repeated numerous falsehoods, including the claim that he won the 2020 election.

Biden failed to refute them, and his fumbling, halting performance has prompted calls from Democrats for him to end his quest for a second term and for “soul-searching” or resignations among his top aides.

“My only request was to make sure he’s rested before the debate, but he was exhausted. He was unwell,” said one person who appealed to Biden’s top aides in the days before, to no avail. “What a bad decision to send him out looking sick and exhausted.”
