Cleveland: The US and Pakistan do not agree on everything but the two countries are effectively coordinating on national security issues, the White House has said in a statement.
"The United States has an important relationship with Pakistan. We don't agree on everything, but we certainly have been able to effectively coordinate on a variety of national security issues that are important to fighting extremists and protecting the citizens in both our countries," White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest told reporters.
When asked about speculations of a military coup in Pakistan in the aftermath of a failed bid in Turkey, he said, "I am certain not going to speculate about the political situation in another country."
"The relationship between the US and Turkey is different than its relationship with Pakistan. Pakistan is not a NATO ally, but certainly the US benefits to have a productive relationship with Pakistan, he said.
