India registered a commanding victory over Pakistan at the Narendra Modi Stadium by 7 wickets on Saturday, October 14 to make it 8-0 against PAK in the ICC ODI World Cup history. India’s winning streak over Pakistan remains intact and the win sparked epic celebrations on social media.
Indian skipper Rohit Sharma narrowly missed out on a well-deserved century but he scored 86 runs in a chase of 192 after Jasprit Bumrah and the Indian bowling attack restricted Babar Azam and Co. to a total of 191.
Rohit had won the toss and he elected to bowl first, after which Babar scored a fifty while Mohammad Rizwan scored 49 runs but the rest of the batters failed to shine against a fiery Indian bowling attack.

As many as five Indian bowlers picked up two wickets each to help restrict Pakistan to a below-par total. Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill came out all guns blazing before Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul got India over the line.

Indian captain Rohit couldn’t have asked for a more complete performance, with the bowlers all stepping up the fore, while the batsmen also gave glimpses of their intent.
The victory helped the Indian team rise to the top of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 points table, level on points with New Zealand but the Men in Blue have a better net run rate of +1.821, as compared to the Kiwis (+1.604).
