Finance Minister Arun Jaitley seems to be enamoured by the figure of Rs 100 crore. In an over two-hour long Budget speech in the Lok Sabha on Thursday, Jaitley announced 29 schemes each of which have been allotted Rs 100 crore.
Some of these schemes have the potential to change the lives of ordinary India but in the eyes of Jaitley they are just worth Rs 100 crore each while Prime Minister Narendra Modi's pet project of constructing a statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in Gujarat has been granted Rs 200 core.
