Markets trading flat: FMCG, IT stocks down
The markets opened on a positive note on Monday on the back of selling pressure.

New Delhi: The markets opened on a positive note on Monday on the back of selling pressure seen in FMCG, IT and banking stocks. Metals and consumer durable stocks are still showing strength.

However, market breadth was impressive with over 1100 stocks on the advancing side and about 760 stocks on the decline side on BSE. Rupee was quoting at Rs 40.37 against dollar and crude oil was trading at USD 73.93 per barrel.

At 1026 hrs, IST, the Sensex was down 8.88 points or 0.06 per cent at 15263.84, and the Nifty was up 2.25 points or 0.05 per cent at 4506.8. About 1134 shares have advanced, 761 shares declined, and 42 shares are unchanged.

Top gainers on the Sensex are ACC at Rs 1,113 up 1.57 per cent, Bajaj Auto at Rs 2,208 up 1.54 per cent and Ambuja Cements at Rs 130.85 up 1.51 per cent.

Top losers on the Sensex are Satyam at Rs 483.05 down 2.06 per cent, HDFC Bank at Rs 1,207.90 down 1.88 per cent and ITC at Rs 153.10 down 1.7 per cent.

Most active shares on BSE are GMR Infra at Rs 897.90 with 5,42,219 shares, SAIL at Rs 165.65 with 23,44,273 shares and HUL at Rs 200 with 12,36,105 shares.

Top percentage gainers on the NSE are Uflex at Rs 180.45,up 20.02 per cent, Pearl Global at Rs 105.30 up 20 per cent and Sree Rayalaseem at Rs 20.75 up 16.25 per cent.
