India's second largest software exporter Infosys kicked off its silver jubilee celebrations at its corporate leadership institute.

Mysore: India's second largest software exporter Infosys kicked off its silver jubilee celebrations at its corporate leadership institute in Mysore on Sunday.

On this occasion, the company has announced a decision to distribute Rs 126 crore among its employees. Each beneficiary would get a certain amount depending on his or her tenure in the company.

In another major achievement, on Monday, Infosys will become the first ever-Indian company to ring the opening bell of NASDAQ.

At Mysore, Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram among others, attended the company's silver jubilee celebrations.

In his address, software icon N R Narayana Murthy made a veiled attack on critics of economic reforms in the country, asserting that his company was a 'shining example' of the success of the policy.

"Infosys is a shining example of the success of economic reforms," said Murthy, who is the Chairman and chief mentor of the NASDAQ-listed Infosys.

Murthy said Infosys was a company that had created 55,000-plus high quality, high-income jobs, contributing $2 billion a year to the country's exports and raised the image of India by conducting business legally and ethically. "Let critics of economic reforms realise by this shining example that there is no alternative to creation of jobs to solve the problem of poverty."

Murthy said he would like to thank two sets of people – the past and present 'Infoscions' and late Prime Minister P V Narasimha Rao, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Finance Minister P Chidambaram and Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia, the architects of 1991 reforms.

"By celebrating the 25th year of Infosys, we are celebrating the success of these architects of economic reforms of India and the courage, aspirations and enthusiasm, and hard work every one of Infoscions and former Infoscions," he said.

"We are all celebrating the success of wives and children of Infoscions whose sacrifices just render our sacrifice into a little insignificant one," he said.
