The administration of Bundelkhand University, Jhansi has decided to introduce diploma and certificate courses on Bundeli art and dialect from the month of January. The Fine Art Department is going to start a one-year diploma course on Bundelkhand painting and a six-month certificate course on Bundeli dialect. In order to preserve the rich century old folk art and culture, the Bundelkhand University has taken this special initiative to connect the youth with the state’s culture. Candidates must have a 12th pass to take admission in these courses. The coordinator of the Fine Arts Department of the Bundelkhand University, Dr Shweta Pandey said that the theoretical and practical studies will be conducted in the diploma course. Special tips will be given about how to make Bundeli art and painting, after teaching its specialty in the theory class.
Professor Munna Tiwari mentions that just as Indology, which involves the study of Indian art, culture and history, is taught in numerous institutions abroad and therefore a similar approach is being applied to the Bundeli dialect. The university is starting a six-month certificate course focused specifically on Bundeli dialect, which is spoken in certain regions in India. This course will likely cover aspects of the dialect including its linguistic features, cultural context and historical importance. The main aim is to conserve and promote the Bundeli dialect, just like how other regional and cultural studies are pursued internationally.
These courses provide learners with the opportunity to engage deeply with a specific regional language and enrich their understanding of local traditions and literature. It will also strengthen the ties between academic institutions and local communities. It will provide a platform for the Bundeli speakers to share their knowledge and experience, fostering greater appreciation for their linguistic contributions. The introduction of the Bundeli art and dialect will provide a larger background of regional and cultural education.
