“Central government is committed to protect the interests of NEET examinees. I want to assure the students that all their concerns will be addressed with fairness and equity. No student will be at a disadvantage and no child’s career will be at jeopardy,” said Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Friday.
His comments come amid questions raised by students, parents, and the Opposition parties following reports of a possible paper leak and marks disparity. Pradhan also added that the counselling process of NEET UG 2024 will be underway soon.

Congress’ Pawan Khera had also earlier pointed out that this time 67 students have topped the NEET UG 2024 by scoring full marks, 720/720 but in the last eight years only seven students managed to get this score. “The process is called NEET but is it neat enough?” Khera had asked.
“NTA told the apex court yesterday that they followed the SC judgement to give grace marks to compensate for the time loss but the judgement says such grace marks cannot be given for engineering and medical entrance exams. They are even twisting SC judgement. Education minister has no answer on paper leaks. We demand the examination centres name should be made public. There reports that some students who even struggled to pass class 12 topped the NEET exams,” Khera had said.
AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj had said that many people were not happy with the SC decision and hinted there might be chances of corruption. “On this, I have spoken to many people and they are not very happy with the Supreme Court decision also…If such a thing has happened, then there must have been corruption. A Supreme Court-monitored probe by an independent agency should be conducted into this. Such a huge thing cannot happen without the involvement of the government,” he had said.
TMC spokesperson Santanu Sen had alleged that the BJP-led government at the Centre was playing with the future of students. “This is one of the biggest scams of the BJP-led central government. The BJP is playing with the future of lakhs of students.,” Sen said.
Furthermore, there have been allegations of a paper leak as well following the Economic Offences Unit of Bihar Police’s report last month stating that the NEET UG 2024 question papers and answers were provided to approximately 35 aspirants before the exam held on May 5. As many as 13 individuals have been arrested so far in connection with the case.
