Rs 60 Lakh Salary ‘Not Enough’ To Sustain Lifestyle In Canada, Says Indian-origin Banker
This comes as a surprise to many, as such a salary in India is considered highly lucrative.

The trend of Indian youth moving abroad for jobs continues to rise, with many seeking opportunities in countries like Canada, the U.S. (New York), Australia, Oman, and Japan. Among these, Canada remains the top choice for both education and employment due to its immigrant-friendly policies and ample job opportunities. However, many Indians are finding it increasingly difficult to survive there due to the rising cost of living.

Recently, an Indian-origin woman working in a bank in Canada highlighted the stark reality of inflation in the country. Despite earning an annual salary of Rs 60 lakh, she expressed that it is not enough to sustain a comfortable lifestyle. This comes as a surprise to many, as such a salary in India is considered highly lucrative. However, with the escalating cost of housing, utilities, and everyday expenses in Canada, even high salaries are being stretched thin. This reflects the growing challenge of maintaining financial stability abroad, particularly in countries like Canada where inflation is outpacing wage growth.

The woman featured in a viral video, who works as a technician at TD Bank in Canada, shared her concerns about the high cost of living despite her seemingly substantial salary. With 10 years of work experience, she earns an annual income of $95,000 (approximately Rs 60 lakh). However, she expressed dissatisfaction with her financial situation, explaining that even this salary is insufficient to cover the high expenses associated with living in Canada. This video was shared on Instagram by Piyush Monga, where the woman candidly discussed the financial challenges she faces.

The woman featured in the viral video, who has been living in Canada for the past three years, highlighted how rapidly the cost of living has increased during her time there. She noted that when she first moved to Canada, the price of butter was around four dollars, but now it has doubled to about eight dollars. This sharp rise in everyday expenses underscores the growing impact of inflation in Canada. In her comparison of inflation between Canada and India, she pointed out that Canada has become far more expensive, with the cost of necessities rising significantly. In the viral video, the woman shared that she lives in Toronto, one of Canada’s most expensive cities. She revealed that she pays $1,600 per month (approximately Rs 1.34 lakh) for a house with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. People in the comments section have advised her to return to India and find a job here.
