Chelsea will play to win at Anfield: Hiddink
Chelsea face familiar European foes Liverpool in the Champions League tie.

New Delhi: Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink has revealed that tactics and systems could prove of little value when his side tangle with familiar European foes Liverpool, and rather that mistakes could be what decides what is likely to be a tight and tense affair.

The first leg of the Champions League quarter-final tie is at Anfield on Wednesday night, and the Dutchman feels that there is very little to choose between the two teams.

"When players know each other very well, there are no secrets, it is sometimes said that the managers must do something extra," he told reporters at his Anfield press conference on Monday.

"But I think that is exaggerated because the manager does not play. We have our plans, they have their plans how to fight us and in the end the players must deliver. Of course I have prepared them very seriously for these beautiful games at the end of season. These games are finals, watched by the whole world," said Hiddink.

Hiddink concluded on a positive note, highlighting the fact that his side were not going to play for a draw on Merseyside. He said, "We come here not to sit back and wait and react. It is not the way to play football in my philosophy, nor the team's concept of how to play football. Whenever we can we try to take the initiative."

"If you can score an away goal that is always a big blow for the home team. If they have conceded, it is always very difficult to recover that."
