Coach Biswajit Bhattacharya puts in his papers after East Bengal's poor run at I-League

Kolkata: East Bengal coach Biswajit Bhattacharya quit on Monday after the city giants' hopes for winning the I-league crown all but vanished after they went down to Bengaluru FC on Sunday.

An East Bengal official said that Bhattacharya conveyed his decision to step down in an e-mail to the club.

The club was yet to decide on whether to accept Bhattacharya's resignation as it still has two I-League matches left.

Bhattacharya had taken over as East Bengal coach last June from Dutchman Eelco Schattorie.
