How to Cross-Play on No Man's Sky (All Platforms) + Fixes

Starting Crossplay

Select Options. This is on No Man's Sky's homepage. To play No Man's Sky with a friend on a different platform, you can use a special generated Friend Code.

Select Network. You can find this underneath Graphics Options.

Select View No Man's Sky Friends List. This is towards the bottom of the screen.

Select Show My No Man's Sky Friend Code. This will generate a code to give your friend. If you want to add your friend, they must follow the above steps to generate their Friend Code.

Select Add No Man's Sky Friend. A new field will open.

Enter your friend's code. If you gave your friend your Friend Code, they'll need to enter it in the field. You may need to select OK to proceed.

Join a session. Once your friend is added, you'll see them underneath the No Man's Sky Friends header. To join their game, select their session in the menu. You must be in the same game mode, such as Normal, Survival, or Permadeath.

Troubleshooting Crossplay

Refresh the menu. If you don't see your friend or their session, exit to the home page menu, and then open your friend list again.

Check if Multiplayer is enabled. You can do this in No Man's Sky's options menu. Open Options. Select Network. Select Multiplayer. Select Enable. Restart the game.

Make sure you have active subscriptions. If you're playing on a console, both you and your friend must have an active online subscription. This includes Xbox Game Pass or PlayStation Plus. If needed, check your payment method for these services. Crossplay is not available for the Nintendo Switch version.

Reach the Anomaly in the game. If you don't see the option for co-op, try completing the game up to the Anomaly first. This goes for both you and your friend. This will take roughly 3 hours.
