Mahesh Babu-starrer Guntur Kaaram has been in the headlines since its announcement. Now, according to the latest updates, the film’s theatrical rights have been sold for a massive amount. According to the reports, Guntur Kaaram’s theatrical rights were sold for a whopping Rs 120 crore. These theatrical rights are just for the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Reports further state that it will be sold for Rs 155 crore worldwide. According to trade analysts, this is a record amount for a regional film. Film distributors have already secured their shares. The Nizam Area has secured Rs 45 crore, the Andhra region has secured the rights for around Rs 60 crore, while the Ceded districts have secured it for Rs 18 crore.
There has been a lot of anticipation and buzz surrounding the film. At the moment, Guntur Kaaram is in its last stages of shooting. As per reports, the makers are planning to release the first single of the film at the Dasara festival. The film marks the third collaboration between Mahesh Babu and director Trivikram. They have earlier worked in films like Athadu and Khaleja earlier.
Guntur Kaaram is set to release on January 12, 2024, on Sankranti. The cast of the film includes Mahesh Babu, Sreeleela, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Jagapathi Babu and Ramya Krishna. The producer of the film is S Radha Krishna under Haarika and Hassine Creations. The music composer for the film is Thaman S. Reportedly, it is being made on a budget of Rs 200 crore. The post-theatrical OTT rights of the film have gone to Netflix, according to reports. It is expected to be a family entertainer with a pan-India release.
Actress Pooja Hegde was cast as one of the female leads in Guntur Kaaram earlier. However she had to opt out of the project due to scheduling issues. She was replaced by actress Meenakshi Chaudhary. Reports suggest that Pooja Hegde had already shot for ten days.
