Over 11 persons, including two women, were injured in clash between two groups at Golapalli village under Chatrapur police limits on Friday evening.
The clash, in which crude bombs and fire-arms were used, took place over a petty dispute.
At least nine persons were arrested from both sides, the police said. While the injured were admitted to the sub divisional hospital at Chatrapur, two of them referred to MKCG Medical College and Hospital.
Armed police have been deployed in the village to avoid flaring up of the situation. The situation is now under control.
NODAL OFFICER SUSPENDED FOR FRAUD: The school inspector-cum-nodal officer for noon meals at Purusotompur block, Trinath Parida, has been placed under suspension for dereliction of duty and embezzlement.
Following allegations of short supply of rice under the mid-day meal scheme to schools in the block, Ganjam Collector Kishen directed project director of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, Aswini Mishra, to conduct an inquiry into the matter and submit report.
It was later revealed that gunny bags in which rice was supplied to schools had less quantity rice.
After receiving the report, Collector suspended Parida for his alleged involvement.
