Jaipur: At least 14 people including seven infants have reportedly died at a Jodhpur hospital since Sunday after resident doctors in all the six government medical colleges and its attached hospitals in Rajasthan went on strike. The doctors are protesting against alleged police atrocities at the MDM Medical College in Jodhpur.

The strike has been called to protest the alleged lathicharge on Saturday at the MDM Medical College in which over 60 students and doctors were injured. Resident doctors say the police lathicharged them following a minor scuffle among a few doctors and attendants of a patient.

Some resident doctors were also arrested but later released.

Following the violence at MDM College nearly 1,200 resident doctors of Rajasthan went on strike.

The President of Joint Association of Resident Doctors Dr Krishnakant Sahu said that they wanted all police officials involved in the lathicharge suspended immediately. He added that at least 28 resident doctors were injured in the lathicharge.
