Jabalpur: A mini-truck upturned in Jabalpur district of Madhya Pradesh on Monday, killing 15 people and injuring 50. The mishap compounded further as an ambulance carrying the injured also met with an accident, killing driver on spot.
According to reports, the incident took place at Chargawan road around 50km from district headquarters, when a mini-truck overturned. The mishap was so fierce that eight people on board were killed on spot while seven other died on the way to hospital.
One of the injured said, the driver put off the ignition driving downhill. However the vehicle got out of control and the ignition being off, made the situation out of control for the driver who jumped off soon to save his life.
Soon after the vehicle swayed and upturned. Locals rushed to the rescue of the passengers trapped in the debris and were sent to nearby hospitals in private vehicles.
Senior administrative officers rushed to the spot and initiated rescue and relief efforts. A case of negligent driving was registered against the driver.
