35 arrested for bid to show black flags to Narayanasamy

The minister was in the city to attend a conference organised by Southern India Mills Association when Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam cadre attempted to besiege the hotel in which the event was scheduled to be organised.Raising slogans against the Congress-led UPA government, the cadre waved black flags and tore the banners put up in front of the hotel welcoming Narayanasamy. “Even as the fishermen from Tamil Nadu are facing attacks from the Sri Lankan Navy, the Centre has been providing training to the island nation’s defence personnel. This shows that the Congress party is not concerned about the welfare of Tamils. So we have decided to show black flags to all Congress Union Ministers whenever they visit the state,” said V Aruchamy, governing body member of TPDK. However, the cadre were removed from the spot by the police before the arrival of Narayanasamy. As many as 35 of them were booked for unlawful assembly.
