5 feared dead in NH mishap

PALAKKAD: Five persons were reportedly killed  in a multiple crash involving four vehicles on the national highway at Vadakkammuri near Kannadi here on Friday. All the victims were travelling in a tempo traveller. Two of the deceased were identified as Rajan Varghese of Perumabavoor and Sujatha of Kabvassery.However, Palakkad South Police confirmed the death of only four persons.Of the deceased, two women died in the District Hospital while a 14-year-old boy and a man succumbed to injuries in a private hospital in the town.The mishap occurred around 10 pm when the tempo traveller in which the victims were travelling collided with a bus, a lorry and an autorickshaw.  Rescue operations were still on as a person was found crushed under one of the vehicles.
