Weeks after her husband was allegedly killed by her family members over an inter-caste marriage in Tamil Nadu, Kousalya has attempted suicide by consuming poison. She has been hospitalised at Udumalpet General Hospital.
In an suspected case of honour killing 21-year-old engineering student Sankar was killed allegedly on the orders of Kousalya's family who hails from the upper caste Thevar community in the state in March, 2016.
The couple was brutally attacked in broad daylight near Tirupur district. Shankar died enroute to the hospital while Kousalya had sustained injuries.
Three people had been arrested in connection with the case.
Ever since the death of her husband, Kousalya has reportedly been facing pressure.
