CHENNAI: In yet another makeover of a project of the previous DMK regime, Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Wednesday announced that the Anna Centenary Library will be shifted to the Directorate of Public Instruction (DPI) complex here. The library infrastructure in Kotturpuram would be used to house a paediatric super-specialty hospital, Jayalalithaa said.In an official release, Jayalalithaa said the decision was a follow-up move to the announcement made in the 2011-12 budget that promised an Integrated Knowledge Park (IKP) at the DPI complex. The decision was made at the Cabinet meeting held on Tuesday, the CM said.According to the decision, the IKP would house all the directorates under the School Education Department besides the mega library.“The proposed location for the [Anna Centenary] library in the IKP within the DPI complex will be in close proximity to the Connemara and the National Depository Library. Hence, it will be appropriate to house it at the DPI complex, it was decided at the Cabinet meeting,” Jayalalithaa said. After shifting the library, a super specialty paediatric hospital will be set up at the  Kotturpuram venue. “A government hospital similar in nature to the proposed facility at Kotturpuram is first of its kind in the whole country. The new amenity would make Tamil Nadu the forerunner in protecting welfare of children,” the chief minister added.
