HYDERABAD: There will be some relief to the people who are reeling under the impact of load shedding. The APTransco has made arrangements for purchase of 850 MW power from outside the state which is the present gap between demand and supply.
As coal supplies from Mahanadi and Bilaspur coal fields are being moved, the thermal power stations, which are having acute shortage of coal supplies due to the Singareni coal workers' strike would get a relief.According to energy department sources, the APTransco is purchasing 525 MW power from PTC India Ltd and as part of swap agreement with Haryana, the state will be getting 200 MW power. AP Energy Department principal secretary Dinesh Kumar has spoken to his Haryana counterpart and has reportedly clinched the deal. The government would compensate the same quantum of power to Haryana in the next financial year.
