Through community service efforts without fanfare, a significant initiative named after the late renowned actor Puneeth Rajkumar is gaining traction in the HD Kote taluk of Karnataka. The state government’s Health Department has introduced the ‘Dr Puneeth Rajkumar Heart Light Plan’, aimed at reducing fatalities caused by heart attacks. Under this initiative, individuals showing signs of a heart attack receive a tablet valued at Rs 40,000. Upon recognition of symptoms, they are promptly admitted to a government hospital for immediate treatment, followed by an ECG test. If abnormalities are detected, doctors administer this tablet, which can potentially prevent heart attacks for up to 120 minutes (2 hours).

Dr Prajwal Kumar, a specialist at the government hospital in HD Kote explained that after initial treatment, patients may undergo further care at the district heart hospital. This tablet is exclusively available in government hospitals and not accessible elsewhere. Since its recent introduction at HD Kote’s government hospital, three tablets have been successfully administered to patients experiencing heart attacks without complications.

This initiative is inclusive and accessible to all societal groups. Upon recognising symptoms of a heart attack, individuals can swiftly seek admission to a government hospital where, if needed. Dr Puneeth’s Heart Light tablet can potentially save lives by mitigating the effects of a heart attack.

Puneeth Rajkumar consistently backed charitable causes, generously donating to various charities and foundations. He passed away on October 29, 2021.
