Unperturbed by the restrictions imposed on the routes leading to the venue of Telangana March on Necklace road, members of various joint action committees (JACs), which formed the Telangana JAC, reached the venue and participated in the march on Sunday despite heavy rain.
Since rallies of any kind were restricted, members of different JACs from different places had to come individually or in small groups on the route permitted for reaching the venue. From Sanjeevaiah Park, the starting point of Necklace Road, the individuals and small groups came together and in a procession to join the march.
The 56 organisations of employees and other organisations, which form the TJAC, joined the march in their own style. Members of the Doctors JAC and Advocates JAC went wearing their uniforms and the Gandhi cap. Doctors even brought some ambulances along with them to the venue. A large number of retired employees, who also have a JAC, joined the march in spite of their advanced age. Some physically-challenged persons reached the venue on their tricycles.
Members of the Telangana Electricity Employees JAC had to take a longer route though their office is not more than one kilometre away.
'We had to take a round-about way to reach as there were traffic restrictions. Withdrawal of public transport was another great difficulty we faced,' TEEJAC president Raghu said.
BDL Employees JAC leader T Ravi said they had a harrowing time reaching the venue from Patancheru. 'First we reached Lakidikapool and went from there to Secunderabad. Some of us had to walk the distance from Secunderabad,' he said.
'The government had given the permission only for name sake and put several obstacles in the path of marchers. However, unfazed by them thousands of Telangana votaries participated in the march making it a grand success,' TJAC co-convener Mallepalli Lakshmaiah said.
