BHADRAK: A 20-year-old youth of Samantarapur village under Tihidi block has tested positive for dengue. He was admitted to SCB Medical, Cuttack, on Friday.The Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) of Bhadrak Adhara Nayak said the youth, Debashis Biswal, working with Bhusan Steel plant at Angul - was down with fever for the last few days. He was admitted to the Government Hospital at Angul where doctors suspected dengue and collected his blood sample for test. He then came back to his village in Bhadrak but had to be admitted to district headquarters hospital on Thursday after he again suffered from fever.After his blood sample was found positive for dengue, he was shifted to SCB Medical last night, the CDMO said. The CDMO sent a team of health officials to Samantarapur village on Saturday to assess the situation in the village and directed the doctors at Tihidi hospital to prevent spread of the disease. “We have started spraying larvicide in stagnant water and garbage dumps in the affected village while the health staff have been engaged in sanitation work,” the CDMO said.He further said that there was no reason to panic as Biswal was bit by mosquitoes in Angul and the Aedes mosquito cannot fly beyond 100 metres.Santha Biswal, Debasis’ father, said his condition was critical.
