VIJAYAWADA: Bhanu, the prime accused in Maddlachervu Suri’s murder case, is hiding in the state and will be arrested very soon, director- general of police V Dinesh Reddy has said. Speaking with mediapersons at Machilipatnam on Tuesday, he said the police sub-divisions would be reconstituted by bringing all the mandals in a particular Assembly constituency under the jurisdiction of one sub-division.There are 180 police subdivisions in the state.On police officers’ involvement in liquor scam, the DGP said they were yet to receive a copy of the ACB report on the matter.With regard to selection of Home Guards, Dinesh Reddy claimed that the exercise was going on in a transparent manner.Proposals will be sent to the government for paying a daily wage of Rs 300 and providing uniform, bus pass, medical care under Arogyasri scheme and other facilities to each Home Guard.On promotions in the police department, he said batchwise, instead of range-wise, promotions would be given.The new policy will ensure promotion of all officers with same experience to equal rank. This method is in vogue in Maharashtra and Karnataka.Announcing that six more marine police stations would be set up in the state soon, he said the Rs 100-crore Crime and Criminal Tracking Network System, being set up to connect all the police stations in the state to control crime rate, would be ready in two months.Earlier, Dinesh Reddy, accompanied by his family, visited Subrahmanyeswara Swami temple at Mopidevi in Movva mandal. He also inaugurated a renovated police guest house at the office of the district superintendent of police at Machilipatnam, a police outpost at Mopidevi and a subcontrol room at Hanuman Junction.Vijayawada city police commissioner N Madhusudan Reddy accompanied the DGP on his tour.
