CHENNAI: With the objective of learning and understanding the educational reforms that are taking place in the state - especially the Activity Based Learning (ABL) programme, a team of nine educationists including a UNICEF official from Bhutan visited three civic body-run schools in the city on Tuesday.They visited the Chennai Primary School, Koyambedu, Chennai Middle School, Arumbakkam and Chennai Primary School, Manjakollai and gained a  first-hand idea of the method.T N Venkatesh, Joint Commissioner (Education) in Chennai Corporation, while briefing the visiting Bhutanese guests on the implementation of the ABL method, said that the system was introduced in 13 civic body schools in 2003 on a trial basis.As the response of the students to the new method was encouraging, ABL was started in 264 schools in 2004. It extends upto class-IV now, he explained to the Bhutanese educationists.
