Bombay High Court ex-judge to probe Dhule riots
Over a 100 people and 102 police personnel were injured during the riots that took place January 6, 2013 over a trivial matter of paying a restaurant bill.

Mumbai: The Bombay High Court's retired judge Shrikant Malte will conduct an inquiry into the communal riots in Dhule in north Maharashtra that left six people dead in January 2013.

According to an official, Home Minister RR Patil made the announcement in the assembly on Monday.

Over a 100 people and 102 police personnel were injured during the riots that took place January 6, 2013 over a trivial matter of paying a restaurant bill.

On Feb 8, 2013, six police personnel and four civilians were arrested for looting and vandalism during the riots.

A magisterial inquiry followed by a judicial probe was also ordered soon after the riots in this town, around 350 km north from Mumbai.
