The CBSE is introducing the 20 per cent internal assessment in Maths and Science at both the Class 10 and 12 levels.

New Delhi: Pressure to perform, score high marks and get into a good college has made the Board exams a nightmare for students.

The story is no different this year, but there is certainly a bit of relief for the students.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided to introduce the 20 per cent internal assessment in Maths and Science and Technology at both the Class 10 and 12 levels.

So of 100 marks, students would attempt an 80-mark paper and 20 marks would be set aside for internal assessment.

The CBSE had already introduced the pattern in the 2005-2006 academic year in Social Studies.

Introduction of grading system in the Indian context has been in the pipeline for quite some time and seems to be gaining importance and the CBSE is promising to put it in place.

The Class 12 Board exams will be held from March 1 to April 10 where as the Class 10 exams will be held from March 2 to March 28.
