KOCHI: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) will inform the High Court that if the Italian marines involved in the Enrica Lexie case are granted bail, the bail conditions should include furnishing Indian sureties. The MHA will also have to assure the HC that the Centre will take necessary steps to ensure Italian marines’ say, if they are granted bail. The court had asked the Centre to inform whether the marines can stay without a visa, if bail is granted on condition that they do not leave the Indian territory. In normal cases, visa is issued on the passport of a foreign national by the Indian Embassy concerned or the Consulate abroad. But in the case of the marines, the Centre can issue necessary directions to the Foreigners Regional Registration Officer concerned to make necessary endorsements on the passport, to issue a visa with limited validity.
