CHENNAI: The archrivalry between DMK and AIADMK today took a new turn with Chennai Mayor M Subramaniam, a DMK representative, alleging he was left out of a review meeting held by an AIADMK minister of his party-controlled civic body."We have no issues with Local Administration Minister K P Munusamy reviewing works undertaken by the Corporation. But since it is a democratic organisation (with elected representatives in it), I should have been duly informed of the review meeting," Subramaniam said in a statement. He said that the Minister had held a review meeting yesterday with all officials and also visited a Corporation-run hospital besides reviewing the Rs 48 crore modernisation works in an abattoir."None of these were informed to me," he said.He said that a question would have come up on the participation of DMK's elected representatives in such programmes and said that his party chief M Karunanidhi and his son M K Stalin, also a former Chennai Mayor, believed in a democratic set up.Subramaniam said that the two had allowed him to participate in the inauguration of a Passenger Reservation Counter by the Southern Railway on Wednesday which was inaugurated by Information Minister G Senthamizhan."I was scheduled to preside over and the Minister inaugurate the facility... but he finished the programme in just three minutes and left the venue, unwilling to share space with us," he alleged.Subramaniam said DMK's Rajya Sabha MP, Vasanthy Stanley and himself had attended the event, adding it would be a "matter of decency" that all elected respresentatives are involved in review meetings of the Corporation of Chennai.
