NIZAMABAD: Star-turned -politician K Chiranjeevi's son Ram Charan Teja's engagement with Upasna Kamineni is likely to take place at the Domakonda fort in Nizamabad district.
Domakonda, a tiny mandal headquarters, has suddenly come under the media glare with the engagement of the Magadheera actor being scheduled there in December this year.
Upasna's forefathers were Domakonda Samsthan rulers.
On Wednesday, her parents Anil Kumar and Sobhana along with her grandfather Umapathi Rao, visited the fort area known as Gadi.
Upasna and Ram Charan also visited the area about 15 days ago but managed to escape media attention.
Located in 50 acres, the fort comprises three buildings which are currently in a dilapidated condition.
One of the buildings is named Addala Meda, meaning a Glass House.
Necessary repairs are being done to get the place in shape.
Umapathi Rao, who owns the place, usually spends two days with his family at the nearby Shiva temple on Maha Shivaratri every year.
Domakonda Samsthan was under the Qutub Shahi and Asif Jahi rulers.
The fort is believed to have been built by the Reddy rulers during the 18th century but the entrance to the fort reflects Asaf Jahi's taste for architecture.
Paintings on the windows and the wooden architecture add a special charm to the fort.
The Shiva temple and a lotus pond inside were built during the Kakatiya period.
The fort is popular as Gadi Domakonda and is famous for its architecture.
