New Delhi: The CNG price in the national capital has been increased by Rs 1.55 per kg while that in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad have been hiked by Rs 1.80 per kg. With this move, the new consumer price in Delhi would be Rs 39.90 per kg while in NCR towns, it would be Rs 45.10.
The hike in CNG price will be effective from midnight. The price of CNG was last hiked by a steep Rs 2.90 per kg in July 2012. That was the third increase in CNG price in 2012 as it was earlier hiked by Rs 1.75 per kg on January 1 and by Rs 1.90 per kg on March 6.
Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL), the sole retailer of CNG and piped natural gas in the national capital, had in July 2012 said that the hike was necessitated because of fall in rupee and rise in cost of imported gas.
