HYDERABAD: Congress leaders loyal to chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy have launched a strident attack on Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) president K Chandrasekhar Rao and his family, accusing them of pursuing their personal interests while asking others to resign for the sake of a Telangana state.Dubbak MLA and newly-appointed TTD board member Ch Muthyam Reddy sent word to TV channels on Tuesday morning that he would be visiting the CLP office to submit his resignation from the Assembly in support of Telangana statehood. In what appeared to be a stage-managed affair, PCC spokesman G Venkataramana Reddy and social welfare  minister Basawaraju Saraiah, among others, were closeted with Muthyam Reddy for some time, spreading word that he was being persuaded not to resign. Soon after, they held a joint press conference where they lashed out at KCR and his son-daughter duo. “We are ready to quit politics, not just legislative bodies, if it is going to help the formation of a new state. Let KCR respond to our challenge,” they said. Not stopping at that, they said they were accountable to the people and not to the TRS. Their attack was provoked by caustic remarks made by KCR and TJAC chairman Kodandaram that people should decorate with chappal garlands the photographs of legislators not willing to resign. Saraiah claimed that it was only after Congress legislators’ had resigned that the party leadership was forced to begin consultations on the Telangana question with leaders from all three regions. After the press conference, Muthyam Reddy met the chief minister and told Express later that he had never intended to resign and all that talk was media’s creation.
