BANGALORE: The Congress is fine-tuning its strategy in the wake of the intenal dissensions in the ruling BJP and defeat Chief Minister D V Sadanada Gowda in the elections to the legislative council, KPCC president Dr G Parameshwar said here on Saturday. Speaking to reporters, Parameshwar said the party’s candidate will be finalised on Sunday evening as consultations are still on with the party high command. “One view in the party is to field such a candidate who will command the support of the JD (S) and former health minister B Sriramulu. Our main objective is to defeat Sadananda Gowda and ensure the exit of the BJP government,” Parameshwar added. When asked how the Congress party can seek JD(S)’ support, the KPCC chief said, “Our objective is to defeat the BJP and in this task we welcome anybody who join us. We will keenly watch the movements of former health minister B.Sriramulu who has claimed of enjoying the support of 22 BJP MLAs. These are part of our electoral strategy.” ‘No Question of Krishna Resignation’Meanwhile, Parameshwar ruled out the resignation of External Affairs Minister S M Krishna following the filing of an FIR in the Lokayukta court. “This (filing of FIR) is politically motivated. The charge that forest lands were de-reserved during Krishna’s tenure for illegal mining is baseless. There is no question of Krishna resigning.”
