New Delhi: At a time when police force is already taking the beating for dereliction of duty, a case of apathy has been reported from the Paati Police Station in Madhya Pradesh.
A tribal minor, who was gangraped in a forest within Barwani district in Madhya Pradesh, was asked to pay Rs 20,000 to register the complaint. An inquiry has been ordered into the incident.
The victim, who hails from Tapar village, was threatened and taken to the jungle on December 27, 2006 by two tribal men—Kailash Biliya and Khapa—from Kumbh Khet village.
The victim and her relatives met the Superintendent of Police Dinesh Chandra Sharma in Barwani and alleged that no report was filed despite payment of Rs 7,000.
''A case has now been registered and Barwani's Sub-Divisional Officer (Police) directed to probe the bribe demand,'' PTI quoted Sharma as saying.
