New Delhi: Mohammad Akhlaq's son Danish, who was grievously injured following rumours that his family had consumed beef in Dadri area of Uttar Padesh, has been shifted to the Army's Research and Referral hospital in New Delhi.
The 22-year-old was moved from Culture Minister Mahesh Sharma's Kailash Hospital, where he was being treated for the past 12 days. He was shifted to the Army's premier institute in the national capital at around 8 PM following request from his family, an official at Kailash Hospital said.
Dr Anil Gurnani of Kailash Hospital said Danish has recovered well and is able to walk and move about. He is being essentially shifted for rest and rehabilitation.
"We were thinking of discharging Danish. He needs rehabilitation more than any medication. He will recover in two weeks as he has shown improvement," said Dr Gurmani.
"He was able to recognise (people) and also walk with support. He has eaten food as prescribed by doctors," said Irfan, son of Akhlaq's elder brother, Jamil.
50-year-old Akhlaq was beaten to death and his 22-year-old son Danish was critically injured by a mob which barged into their house on the night of September 28 following rumours that the family had consumed beef.
Danish's elder brother Sartaj is a corporal with Indian Air Force. Yesterday, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar had said that Sartaj was being given accommodation at Air Force's Subroto Park residential complex here.
