Opposition Leader V S Achuthanandan has demanded that culprits, who are behind the murder of DYFI activist Manoj Kumar in Kasargode district, should be arrested immediately.
In a statement here on Thursday, he registered protest over the killing of the DYFI activist and alleged that it was carried out by the ‘UDF goons.’
Achuthanandan alleged that the police and the UDF tried to provoke hartal supporters with the intention of diverting the public anger against the arrest of party Kannur district secretary P Jayarajan. In Kannur, the police brutally attacked CPM area secretary N Chandran, who was trying to pacify the agitated CPM activists, and he is undergoing treatment at a hospital, Achuthanandan said.
The Opposition Leader termed as ‘unfortunate’ the incidents of attack on government offices and party offices in some places.
‘It is also deplorable that media offices and mediapersons, who were covering the hartal incidents, were targeted.
Action should be initiated to prevent such incidents in future,’ Achuthanandan said in the statement.
