PALAKKAD: A joint survey, conducted by the Revenue Department and the Railways, to  demarcate the land acquired for the proposed coach factory in Kanjikode, began on Monday.“The Revenue Department has received a notification from the Divisional Railway Manager (Works) for demarcating 239 acres of land out of the 430 acres acquired earlier.  “The taluk surveyor has begun the demarcation process along with the officials representing the Railways,” said deputy collector (land acquisition) Sumathikutty. Though 90 acres of forest land has been earmarked for the project, the Department has not made a final decision on the offer, said sources in the Railways.Though 430 acres of land had been acquired by the previous LDF Government, it was decided by the Railways that 239 acres would be enough for the project.
