Directive to TANGEDCO on power holidays

CHENNAI: The Madras High Court has directed the TN Generation and Distribution Corporation Limited (TANGEDCO) to seek appropriate orders on imposing certain conditions on high tension (HT) industries with regard to power holidays.Justice K Venkataraman gave the direction on Tuesday while passing further interim orders on a batch of over 500 writ petitions from HT units challenging the proceedings dated February 25 of the Chief Engineer (Commercial), TANGEDCO, which culminated in issuance of another memo on February 29 this year imposing power holidays.After hearing both the sides, the judge granted liberty to the authorities concerned to approach the TN Regulatory Commission seeking appropriate orders on the issue. The commission should dispose of the application within 30 days after following the due process of law, the judge said.
